Plot Summary
The story is set in June 1983 in the rural village of Hinamizawa, where a young boy named Keiichi Maebara moves in and befriends a group of local girls: Rena, Mion, Satoko, and Rika. Everything seems peaceful at first, but as the annual Watanagashi Festival approaches, Keiichi learns of a dark curse surrounding the village.
Every year, on the night of the festival, someone disappears or is murdered—believed to be the work of Oyashiro-sama, the village’s deity. Soon, Keiichi and his friends begin experiencing paranoia, violent outbursts, and gruesome deaths. However, the story resets, revealing that each arc is part of a repeating time loop where characters struggle to escape their doomed fate.
As the cycles continue, the mystery deepens, and the true nature of the curse, government conspiracies, and supernatural forces is revealed.
